Recently the Panini Kabob Grill opened in Mission Viejo at the Kaleidoscope center and we had a chance to grab dinner with our friends and check it out! 😊 I had only been to Panini Grill once and it was with my friend at the Los Olivos, Irvine location and I loved it. The new Panini Kabob Grill is conveniently located across the street from the Mission Viejo Mall and there is a great patio dining area, as well as a lovely dining room.

We went for a 7pm dinner with our friends, Mike and Katie on a Thursday evening and we were seated in a lovely spot on the spacious patio. With the nice summer weather, I happily selected a glass of Rodney Strong Chardonnay to enjoy with my meal.Â

The four of us decided on the Appetizer Combo Platter which was recommended for a group of 4 and included a lovely array of whole wheat pita bread, hummus trio (garbanzo, black bean, and edamame), tzatziki, falafel, and caprese salad. This was a great starter to get our palates prepped to devour more Mediterranean specialties. I decided to save some of my appetizers to slather on my main dish as well.

For my main course, I selected the Lamb Shish Kabob which comes served with basmati rice, brown rice or bulgur wheat pilaf and a choice of Caesar, Greek, Mediterranean, or Avocado Romaine Salad. I opted for a Greek salad and veggies in place of rice, as I am not a huge rice fan and wanted some more healthy greens. I got some extra pita bread and tzatziki on the side and I was in heaven! There was a nice portion of meat in this platter. My husband got the same dish as me, but with the basmati rice and he thought it was great.Â

Our friends Mike and Katie decided on different selections than the two of us. Mike opted for a Kabob as well, but he got the Flat Iron Steak Shish Kabob Selection which he really seemed to enjoy. All kabob plates are served with sides and Mike also got basmati rice, but with a Caesar salad.

Katie had a different selection than all of us as she was telling us how amazing the paninis were and she selected the Chicken Brie prepared with Grilled Chicken Breast, Tomatoes, Fresh Basil and Brie Cheese. It looked delicious and she also told me she loves the Salmon and Brie Panini when she dines there. Paninis also are served with sides, which include a choice of Caesar salad, Mediterranean Greek, Avocado Romaine, Pasta Salad, or a cup of Lentil or Chicken soup. Katie opted for the pasta salad and it looked fresh and delicious!

For dessert, we all decided on the same item, which was the banana bread pudding which also came with a delightful scoop of vanilla bean to cool us down from the hot summer weather. Each of us shared one serving with our spouse and it was plenty.Â

Panini Kabob Grill was a delicious dinner option, but we definitely look forward to heading back to check out their brunch options, as this Mission Viejo location also offers a fabulous brunch with a variety of different options and they also offer mimosas with your brunch throughout the week and until 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
