Pain Du Monde, also known as PDM Café at Fashion Island in Newport Beach was jam packed with customers when we arrived for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We saw a lovely elderly woman slowly enjoying her Peaches and Cream pastry and coffee with her daughter as she savored each bite and the moment.

We also saw a large family that were in a huge hurry to continue their holiday shopping in the outdoor mall running out with take-out bags of sandwiches as a quick bite to eat. Some people were just there to make a quick stop for a pastry or a coffee and others were enjoying a leisurely lunch.

I ordered a Caramel Mocha frappuccino and my hubby got a strong dark Sumatra coffee. We were seated at a table close to the window and we had a lovely view of the courtyard. I had not had a frap in years and it certainly was delicious…I got the second size up in thinking I was going to share with my husband, but I ended up slurping down the majority of it for myself.

My hubby ordered the Cowboy Breakfast special as it was a traditional format which came with a poached egg, hash browns smothered with cheese, bacon, croissant, and a cookie. He was very satisfied with this dish as it had a great variety and an ample amount of food.

I had the Bozeman Bacon Sandwich prepared with Mary’s chicken, red grilled tomatoes, Niman ranch bacon, goat cheese and avocado on a toasted ciabatta. This sandwich was delicious My sandwich was served with a fresh salad that was topped with a tasty balsamic dressing.

In addition to our two entrees, I got an order of their fresh cut fries with cheddar cheese melted on top and they were delish! These French fries were extremely fresh and they had good blend of crispy and chewy!

We ended our meal with some awesome pastry delights which included a Cinnamon Sugar Twist, an Almond Twist, Peaches and Cream and a Coco Loco cookie! The Peaches and Cream was a must after watching the elderly woman enjoy it slowly with her coffee as we ate our entrees. The twists were light and buttery, yet loaded with flavor and the Coco Loco cookies I could snack on all day, but my personal favorite was the Peaches and Cream, which was full of a flavor complexity made up of cream, fresh peaches, sugar, and a light buttery pastry.

After finishing our meal, we had dessert leftovers and half of my sandwich to take home with us. I was very excited to have lunch for the following day and treats to enjoy that evening while on our couch watching Netflix. I cannot wait to visit Pain du Monde again in the near future.
