I want to share about a delicious restaurant we recently visited in Costa Mesa on 17th street named, Fishbonz Casual Seafood Grill. This visit was prior to the awful Coronavirus 2020 scare that is currently happening now. I think it is important to try to continue to keep our local businesses alive, so I feel the need to share about this awesome place that is currently offering online ordering for takeout at both their Costa Mesa and Torrance locations. Read on for an explanation of the delicious items we tried in their restaurant along with some discounts currently offered during this Coronavirus crisis.
Have you ever been to FishBonz Casual Seafood Grill? I recently went to check out their Costa Mesa location prior to the coronavirus no dining-in option & we loved it! They also have a location in Torrance. I really enjoyed this restaurant as the seafood was made fresh to order and full of delectable flavor! When we went to FishBonz, we had a hard time making selections as everything on the menu sounded great! This only means we need to go back to get takeout and dine there again soon!
We started off our meal with one of their most popular items that is on the standard menu as well as the happy hour menu. This tasty choice was the shrimp taquitos. Not only were these delicious, they had an awesome presentation! I highly recommend this item as we were still talking about them when we left the restaurant. They are available on the normal menu, as well as the Happy hour menu, which I will share more about later in this article!
Next, we each chose an entrée. My husband opted for the “Build a Bowl” menu selection in which you select a protein option and then the bowl is built with white or brown rice,
a vegetable choice of (2): ancient grains**, roasted corn, black beans, grilled zucchini,
asparagus, coleslaw (contains almonds) & the option to add add avocado for $1.50 tom chose the Rockin’ shrimp which came with (flash fried shrimp w/cabbage, green onion, cilantro, slivered almonds, & sesame seeds tossed in our house made rockin’ sauce) he was digging this bowl and said he would totally order it again. He liked the crunchy texture on the outside and juiciness on the inside. He expressed that this dish had complex flavors with a nice kick!
I ordered from the grill selection of the menu and selected the seared ahi tuna wild. There is a choice of Cajun or non-Cajun. I opted for the non-Cajun as I did not want much spice. Each item ordered from the grill comes with your choice of being topped with Cajun spice, garlic butter or teriyaki. I selected garlic butter and i could not get enough of it! You also get a choice of two sides from the grilled selections menu: and the selections are rice, brown rice .50 extra, French fries, roasted corn, black beans, grilled zucchini, coleslaw*, and bread. You can also add avocado for 1.50 extra. My grilled Ahi was seared perfectly, and I opted for the French fries and grilled zucchini. The garlic butter was delicious, not only on my fish, but I doused it all over my zucchini and the French fries as well! I could eat that sauce for days!
FishBonz in Costa Mesa currently offers some awesome Happy Hour Specials from 11:30am – 5:00pm daily, which include discounts on food, appetizers, & $1 off on all tap beers. While the Torrance location does not currently have a happy hour menu, they do have an awesome 10% off discount for seniors, military, and medical staff in scrubs, in addition to a 10% discount to reload your gift cards! 10% off discounts are available at both Torrance and Costa Mesa Locations!
As of now, both restaurants are offering online ordering/pickup through link in website. FishBonz is also available on UberEats, Grubhub, Postmates and Doordash. Make sure to check out FishBonz Grill sometime soon as their fish is fresh and delicious!! We loved this place and cannot wait to go back when this virus passes, but for now Takeout will work just fine! Happy eating everyone!
