Maui Brand Natural Cane Sugars recently reached out to me to share about their product with me and sent me some different types of sugar to see for myself why this is a special brand! This sugar is grown in the nourishing sun and rich soil of Hawaii’s Maui Island. These sugars are available as Maui Whites (Crystallized Natural Cane Sugar) as well as Maui Raws (Turbinado Natural Cane Sugar). These sugars are very kitchen-friendly and they are naturally gluten-free, Vegan friendly, & Non-GMO! Maui brand sugars are grown at the Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company, which has been growing sugar cane in central Maui for more than 140 years!
Maui sugars can be found in a variety of restaurants including Chipotle, Panera Bread, Bruegger’s Bagels, Tacos USA, & Tully’s Coffee. They can be purchased in the grocery store. Heinen’s located in Illinois and Ohio & the grocery store, Marc’s located in Connecticut and Ohio. Maui Sugars can be bought online as well at www.amazon.com.

I decided to see how Maui Sugars compared to my standard table sugar I keep in my own home by testing out a few recipes. I must say I was impressed by the size of the sugar granules of the Turbinado maui raw brown sugar. Brown sugar is always my personal favorite and these granules were large in size.
I love to bake and so I was excited to try these sugars as my ingredients in a chocolate chip cookie recipe! I also used these ingredients in a coffee beverage that I will share about as well below. These recipes are both so very easy for you to make it home & when using premium ingredients, the flavor profile of the items you bake is definitely much more appealing!
Recipe #1 – Chocolate Chip Cookies Made with Maui Raw Sugar
*Recipe from Maui Raw sugars
Ingredients
- 1 stick of unsalted butter (softened)
- ¼ cup Maui Whites Natural Cane sugar
- ½ cup Maui Raws Turbinado sugar
- 1 egg

Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 Degrees.
- Cream the butter and the Maui Brand sugars
- Add in egg and vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and mix with a handheld mixer.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Scoop rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
*These cookies came out absolutely perfect! They are honestly some of the best cookies I ever baked and I am going to attribute that to using both premium sugar and premium butter! See my pictures and you will see the pure perfection! They were literally so delicious!

Recipe #2 – Kona Express – Alcoholic Coffee Beverage Made with Maui Sugar on the rim
*Recipe adapted from Islands magazine
Ingredients:
- ¾ ounce Bailey’s Irish Cream
- ¾ ounce Grand Marnier
- ¾ ounce Kahana Royale Macadamia Nut Liqueur
- 3 ounces of fresh-brewed Kona coffee, chilled
- ¼ cup Maui Raws Turbinado sugar
Directions:
- Coat the rim of a 12 ounce double old-fashioned glass with one of the liqueurs.
- Dip the glass into a plate of Maui Raws Turbinado sugar.
- Fill the sugar rimmed glass with ice and pour in all ingredients.
*For added flavor, use a stick of Hawaiian sugarcane to stir, then leave stick in glass and enjoy!

I hope you get to enjoy both of these recipes as well in the comfort of your own home like I did. 🙂 I would love to also hear about recipes that you may create with Maui Raw Sugars. I am sure you will love it just as I did!
