There are two restaurants located within the Hyatt Palm Springs, one is HooDoo Lounge Patio Restaurant and Cocktail Garden and the other is Share Small Plate Bistro.  These are each unique in style and there is definitely something for everyone at each place!

As we entered the parking lot off the lovely Hyatt Palm Springs hotel, the valet kindly pulled my luggage from the trunk and went to park my car and we were on our way. After walking into downtown Palm Springs a bit and getting a feel for the area, we went to get a few bites to eat and a couple of cocktails at the HooDoo Lounge, which is an outdoor restaurant and lounge located at the Hyatt Palm Springs. There was a perfect setup for the performers that we had the opportunity to watch while we wined and dined. 🙂

At the HooDoo Lounge, we arrived at 4pm, which was a perfect time to take advantage of their happy hour menu that goes from 4:30 – 6:30pm & 10pm – Midnight every day!  We took advantage of the happy hour specials, as well as a few items that were not a part of the happy hour. See all of our delicious selections below.

For cocktails, we decided to try the Golden State Fig, which was prepared with lemon vodka, ginger liqueur, orange juice, fig preserves, saffron bitters, soda water  for $11, the Paloma Picante made with silver tequila, jalapeño syrup, grapefruit soda, lime, and salt for $10, and lastly the Mary Pickford made with silver rum, pineapple juice, grenadine, maraschino liqueur – $11. While these cocktails were tasty and definitely wet our whistle, our favorite was a special avocado cocktail the bartender made for us!  She is working on the perfect recipe, but for us this drink tasted like an avocado margarita & it was amazing. She ended up bringing us out another one after we quickly fought over the first concoction. 🙂  If you go to HooDoo, make sure to ask about this one.

For food at HooDoo, we started with the PuPuHooDoo Platter, which included three of each: Nuggets/Shanks/Skewers/Sliders. For only $28 at Happy Hour, this plate was definitely the best value for your money!

The first item from the PuPuHooDoo platter was the grilled barbecue Shrimp Skewers were tasty and cooked to perfection and are normally $6 when ordered individually.

Another item on the PuPuHooDoo platter was the Lobster Rolls Desert Style.  These sliders had a little less meat than I would have liked, but the flavor was great.  These are $15 when ordered individually.

PuPuHooDoo platter item #3 was the Stone Ale-Battered Fish Nuggets prepared with Smoked Chili Aioli.  This one was one of our favorites on the platter.  The batter was very unique and had an amazing flavor. These are normally $ 12 when ordered individually.

Item #4 on the PuPuHooDoo platter was the California Mission Fig-Glazed Pork Shanks. I did not think I was going to like these because I am not usually a pork fan, but the meat was so tender and fell of f the bone and the sauce was delicious! These paired nicely with the fig cocktail mentioned above.  These are normally $12 when ordered individually.

The Mojave Tequila Duck Confit Quesadilla was stuffed with roasted salsa, citrus crème, and a manchego cheese blend for $ 16. This item had the perfect amount of ingredients and they were evenly distributed throughout the tortilla. I even loved this item the next day!

Last, but not least was the DLT (Duck bacon, Lettuce, Tomato). This sandwich was prepared with house-smoked duck bacon, lettuce, and heirloom tomato on focaccia with chipotle mayo for $16. This dish was bursting with flavor and was my most favorite selection from the HooDoo Lounge!  I loved this sandwich and would order it again before anything else on the menu!  There was a perfect use of each ingredient and they blended together fabulously!

We enjoyed a late 9pm dinner reservation at the Share small plates restaurant which had an intimate dining experience complete with a cozy fireplace and some of the most professional wait staff service!  We loved this place and would definitely visit again and request our awesome waiter, Justin as well!  See his photo below. 🙂

To start our dining experience, we got 2 glasses of white wine to share, one a lovely Italian Avissi Italian Prosecco at a decent $9 a glass and a buttery mouth watering Chardonnay from Napa Cellars in Napa at $11 a glass. These were both of great value and paired with our appetizer quite nicely!

Our appetizer, the Truffled Mushroom Risotto served with Grilled Asparagus & Shaved Parmesan for $10 could not have went more perfectly with the glass of chardonnay we selected above.  This dish was rich and creamy, yet hearty and it was very delicious.  We ate this one until the very last bite and our mouths were still watering for more!  This dish was fabulous.

Next Justin brought us our Caesar ‘GOLD’ Cut Romaine Hearts salad with Grilled Tomatoes, Traditional Caesar Dressing, Sourdough Croutons, and Shaved Parmesan for $9. This was a lovely salad.

To complement our main courses, we each ordered a glass of red wine. I opted for the Buena Vista Merlot from Sonoma at $10 a glass, while my husband ordered the Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington at $10 a glass. These were both good choices, although the Buena Vista has always been a classic favorite for me since I first tried them at the underground wine cellar that used to be a part of the Disneyland hotel resort. 🙂 Great flavor!

For dinner we ordered 2 entrees, our favorite one being the Grilled Center Cut Angus Filet Mignon that was prepared with Gorgonzola, Spinach, and a Pinot Noir Essence. Although it was priced at $36, this dish was well worth the money!  This one of the better filets I have had in awhile and the meat simply melted in my mouth!!  Part of this steak ended up being my midnight snack and it was still absolutely amazing! This steak paired quite well with both glasses of our wine!

The other entrée we selected was the Pistachio Crusted Pacific Salmon with Toasted Pistachios, Warm Spinach Salad, Red Onion ‘Jam’, and Herb Aioli for $28.  This dish came with recommendations from our server and our waitress at HooDoo lounge and they were pretty spot on!  The salmon was cooked perfectly and the pistachio crusting was quite lovely. This dish paired quite nicely with my glass of Buena Vista Merlot and also would have gone quite nicely with a Pinot Noir, a lighter red wine. 🙂

Prior to leaving the next morning and checking out of our lovely hotel, we went to check out the breakfast buffet that also happens in the Share dining room.  Breakfast was quite busy that morning as we expected after our waiter, Justin the night before had mentioned to us it would be. 🙂 This was a breakfast buffet, but there was truly everything you could imagine included in the $16.99 all-you-can-eat charge.  There was fresh bacon, eggs, potatoes, pancakes and sausages that were prepared ongoing through the breakfast service. There was also a design your own omelet bar, a variety of pastries, oatmeal, yogurt, cereal, cheese and fruit!  Needless to say, we were full and satisfied upon exiting the breakfast room and checking out of the hotel. 🙂
