I am excited to attend the 4th annual Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival presented by KLOS taking place on Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California! This will be my first time in attendance and I love music festivals, especially ones that also involve craft beer and tacos! The event will be on Saturday, April 8 from 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM (VIP opens at noon). This event is produced by California’s respected craft beer festival producer Brew Ha Ha Productions and premier music festival production company Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE). I have been to Brew Ha Ha events in the past and they are a blast! I first heard about this event from a company that I have shared about on my social media in the past! That awesome company that will be a huge part of this event is Gringo Bandito, a top rated hot sauce created by lead singer, Dexter Holland from the band, The Offspring! At this event, The Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge will be taking place, which is a professional taco eating contest that consists of 10 professional eaters from around the world! The tacos will of course be prepared with Gringo Bandito sauce! The contestants will be competing for cash prizes and the highly-coveted title of Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Eating Champion! Among the 10 professional eaters for the taco challenge is the well-known world-champion eater Takeru Kobayashi, from Nagano, Japan. Kobayashi holds eight Guinness Records for competitive eating and will be defending his record from 2015, when he succeeded in devouring 144 tacos in 10 minutes!! I cannot wait to see this guy in action!
The 7th annual Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge also welcomes defending European taco challenge champion Jesse Pynnönen, from Heinola, Finland. Pynnönen, who is said to look like a Viking and eat like a polar bear, is thrilled to have the opportunity to defend his title internationally. “I’m very competitive,” comments Pynnönen. “I will train for over 2 months for this competition and will push my body to its furthest limit.”
Additional professional eaters include Molly Schuyller, Naader Reda, Kevin Ross, Erik Lampkin, Dave Brunelli. In addition to the professionals, there will be an amateur taco eating contest open to 8 lucky contestants!
In addition to eating contests, $3 tasty gourmet taco sampling from some of the top restaurants in the OC, and unlimited craft beer sampling (until 4pm), and even lucha libre style wrestling matches! I cannot wait to check this one out as I have never seen anything like it before! Attendees are also invited to sample all flavors of The Offspring lead singer, Dexter Holland’s top rated hot sauce – Gringo Bandito!

The Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival will feature a music lineup headlined by Orange County-based, multi-platinum rock band The Offspring, along with performances from Sum 41, Rival Sons, Lit, Unwritten Law, and the world’s first and only heavy metal mariachi band, Metalachi, as well as roving performances by local mariachi bands. I am so excited for all of these bands because their music brings about so many memories for me in the 90’s and 00’s!!
The price for festival tickets is as follows:
Festival General Admission Tickets start at $60, and VIP Lounge + Early Entry Tickets are $99. Day-of Festival General Admission Tickets (if available) will be $75 per person.
Just of a few of the top local chefs and restaurants in town that will be expected to participate, include these past Sabroso “People’s Choice” and “Best Of Show” winners returning to defend and reclaim their titles: Chef Jimmy Martinez from Pour Vida – Anaheim, Chef Cody Storts from Salt and Ash – Placentia, Chef Rashad Moumneh from Falasophy – Santa Ana, Luis Flores of Meat Up BBQ – Placentia, and Chef Hop Phan from Dos Chinos – Santa Ana, just to name a few. Other local favorites include Chef Greg Daniels from Haven Gastropub, the Ninjas with Appetite Truck (N.W.A. Truck), Devilicious Truck, LIME Truck, Stadium Brewing Co., The Kroft, Chronic Tacos, and many more.
Craft breweries in attendance will include Bottle Logic, Bootleggers, Riip Brewing, Pizza Port, TAPS Fish House and Brewery, Stereo Brewing, Fall Brewing, Barley Forge, Ritual Brewing, Modern Times, Artifex Brewing and more.
The VIP Lounge + Early Entry Ticket includes 1 festival admission ticket for craft beer tastings, music festival, VIP entry lane with one hour early entry for craft beer tastings (Noon), VIP lounge access with exclusive craft beer tastings and special taco vendors, front of stage viewing access, VIP bathrooms, and VIP commemorative laminate.
A portion of the proceeds from Sabroso will be donated to the Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association (DSBIA), the non-profit cooperating association of Doheny State Beach, dedicated to the protection of the park’s beaches, facilities, marine refuge and its historical, cultural and social stories.
Parking at Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco & Music Festival will be extremely limited, so attendees are strongly encouraged to carpool and rideshare. Please go to visit the website for all shuttle locations, ride share lots, bike valet and suggested additional areas to park.
