The 5th Annual Summer Fest Event presented by OC Weekly will be returning to Newport Dunes on June 17th for Orange County’s favorite celebration of local beach and music culture. With live music, food and drink at an awesome space, there is truly something for everyone!
This year OC Weekly Summer Fest 2017 will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Newport Dunes. The Dunes address is: 1131 Back Bay Dr., Newport Beach, CA 92660.
Headlining this year is Huntington Beach’s Pacific Dub reggae-rock band, preceded by reggae and Americana band, The Simpkin Project, and beach rock band, Wheeland Brothers. Opening the concert is youth band, Minor Strut, who won the chance to open during OC Weekly’s Pick the Band contest where the public chose which local band they wanted to see open on the Summer Fest stage.
In addition to the live acts, there will be a Vendor Village complete with a variety of artisanal and local sellers, a $5 Food Fair where food trucks and specialty tents will be selling special priced items, as well as Stella Artois, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and more samples for those over 21.
VIP Summerfest tickets will receive access to a special culinary experience in the VIP Cabana to include the Farm to Table Tasting Tent and the In the Shrubs Cocktail Contest. The tasting tent will feature free food bites provided by 20 OC restaurants known for their farm-to-table food, drink and practices.
Confirmed restaurants this year for Summer Fest include Active Culture Café, Butterleaf, Fresh Brothers, Juliette Kitchen and Bar, Mendocino Farms, Pink Taco, Slidebar, Gringo Bandito, Three Seventy Common, Babbette’s, Cucina Enoteca, Fresh Brothers Pizza, True Food Kitchen, Bosscat, Woody’s Wharf Mesa, SideDoor and more!
The Shrubs cocktail contest where six bars will compete for who makes the best garden-to-bar libation using herbs, spices, drinking shrubs, veggies and fruit. Confirmed pourers include Hammer Bar, Mesa, Recess, The Blind Rabbit and Woody’s Wharf.

GA tickets are currently $25 and include access to concert, Vendor Village and $5 Food Fair plus beer and cocktail samples and cash bar for full-sized drinks. VIP tickets are currently $50 and include all the benefits of GA plus the added amenities of a separate expedited entrance, and access to the Farm to Table Tasting Tent and In the Shrubs cocktail contest. A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to the Save America’s Children (S.A.C.) and their Movement of Love, to help assist their ongoing efforts of youth violence prevention and working with families to reconnect incarcerated fathers, who want to become a positive role model, with their children.
