Pitfire Pizza Sign in Costa Mesa
Pitfire Pizza Sign in Costa Mesa

Pitfire Pizza recently opened in the city of Costa Mesa in Orange County, California.  This is their first location in Orange County and they have six other locations that are in the Los Angeles area.  I had the opportunity to check out some of their pizzas, entrées, and beverages.  I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had at Pitfire and I look forward to going back. Not only is the pizza cooked perfectly, but it is also across the street from my favorite dance bar, Pierce Street Annex (See more about Pierce Street in

Every item I tried at Pitfire was quite tasty, but something that stood out to me was the perfectly cooked crust.  I must say, I am not a huge crust person, so they must be cooked in a certain way for me to eat them.  In the past, when I have tried pizzas that came from wood burning ovens, the crust was usually burned and overcooked, but at Pitfire, it was just right.  The crust was somewhat warm and chewy, but also crunchy.  This can be seen in my pictures as there is a perfect blend.

For pizzas, my three favorites were the seasonal blend called Roast Pumpkin Pizza (available only through the winter season), Green Eggs & Ham Pizza & The Burrata Pie.  Each of these pizzas cost around $10, which is a great value for your money!  This is definitely a Dani’s Decadent Deals favorite for flavor and value! 🙂

The Burrata Pie included burrata cheese, tomato sauce, wild arugula, caramelized onion, hazelnut, & pesto drizzle.

I was impressed by the fact that Pitfire Pizza carried gluten free pizzas.  Both my brother-in-law and one of my good friends are gluten intolerant and they have a hard time finding places that are able to accommodate them.  I personally tasted the gluten free pizza and I must say the flavor was great.  I am usually a little intimidated by gluten free items in thinking they will have a different taste to me or just not “taste like the real thing” but I was pleasantly impressed. 🙂

Something that I loved at Pitfire Pizza was the desert called the Pitfire Smothered Cookie. It was a warmed cookie with ice cream and Guittard chocolate sauce & Caramel sauce with hazelnuts and sea salt on the side to add. This was such a yummy desert and I think my picture shows proof of this. 🙂  The staff was very accommodating and we truly enjoyed our meal at Pitfire Pizza and will be back.

I also want to mention the specials that are offered at Pitfire Pizza, which they call their, “Study Hall.”

I definitely recommend checking out Pitfire pizza whether it be during their “Study Hall” or during their regular restaurant hours. The food is fresh, the prices are good and the atmosphere is welcoming!  This is a fun place to go with family, friends or on a date night. We will be back. Let me know what you think when you check this place out. I know you will love it!
