This past week I was invited to visit Rubio’s to check out their new Ancho Citrus Shrimp burrito. I honestly had not been to Rubio’s in awhile and did not know what to expect. I am quite impressed by Rubio’s in that they produce chef-crafted seafood recipes that feature sustainable shrimp, Atlantic salmon, Regal Springs tilapia and mahi mahi. In addition to certified sustainable seafood, Rubio’s also offers grilled marinated chicken and steak, salads, handmade guacamole, “no-fried” pinto beans, and a variety of salsas that are prepared daily for those that are not into seafood! I always love going in to a restaurant knowing that I have a variety of options. It is important to know there is a little something for everyone!

The first Rubio’s restaurant was opened in 1983 in San Diego by Ralph Rubio and his father, Ray, and they are the ones that started the whole crazy “fish taco phenomenon.” There are currently 193 restaurants in California, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Nevada!

Upon entering a Rubio’s restaurant you have a fresh and welcome feel and the only difficulty is deciding what you want to order. Since I knew what I was purchasing, it would not have been that difficult, but my husband and I decided to share a few other items as well and of course bring some home for lunch the next day. 🙂 We ended up ordering a grilled gourmet taco with chicken, a grilled gourmet taco with steak, a bean burrito and the newest Shrimp Ancho Citrus Burrito! I must say that at only 663 calories, 24 grams of protein and at a price point of about $8 for fresh sustainable shrimp this deal was a steal!

The Ancho Citrus Shrimp Burrito comes with Pan-seared shrimp basted with ancho chilies, garlic, cilantro, a blend of canola and olive oils, then topped with fresh lime juice and wrapped in a warm flour tortilla with citrus rice, fresh made guacamole, black beans, salsa fresca, romaine lettuce, creamy chipotle sauce and red tomatillo salsa and it is served with lightly sea-salted chips. This burrito has mouth watering flavor and will leave you desiring more when you finish devouring it. There is a slight spice to it and I am normally a no spice person but the heat was not very intense and the flavors were amazing!

If you would like to try the new Ancho Citrus Shrimp Burrito for FREE, please enter my contest below to win meal vouchers for two to eat at any Rubio’s location you desire! The contest will run through February 10, 2014 at 12am. Good luck! Here is the entry form:) –> a Rafflecopter giveaway <–
