I recently attended the Celebration of Harvest Festival in Solvang, California that was put together by the Santa Barbara Vintner’s Association and featured over 100 different wineries from throughout the Santa Barbara Region. The event was held at the Mission Santa Ynez in the heart of the Danish City of Solvang. I absolutely love Solvang and I love Santa Barbara wine, so this event was quite exciting for me!
There were several different events offered for the weekend celebration and the two that I attended were the La Paulee Dinner that was held at Veteran’s Hall across the street from the Mission and the all day wine festival held at the Mission! 🙂
The La Paulee dinner is a famous event that happens in San Francisco & New York and it is now happening in Santa Barbara County as well because I got to attend the first La Paulee dinner event! Chef Pink, from the famous Bacon & Brine restaurant in the city of Solvang whipped up some awesome dishes for us to try, while everyone brought with them a bottle of wine to share. Over the course of the evening while dining on our delicious entrees made by Chef Pink, we had the opportunity to walk from table to table to sample all of the different wines that people brought to the dinner. This was such an awesome event and I hope to go back again next year! Enjoy my pictures below!
The all day Saturday tasting event that we attended gave us an opportunity to sample wines from over 100 wineries, as well as delicious cuisine selections from a variety of restaurants around the city. It was a beautiful day and I fell in love with a chocolate Buddha filled with salted caramel and designed by “Chocolats du Cali Bressan.” We sampled a variety of wines and met some great people. How fun – I’ve never been to a harvest festival. I have friends who were born in Solvang and they always talked about their little town with pride!
It is a great small town filled with so many great restaurants and wineries. The people are so friendly and there are so many fabulous Danish Pastries.:)
I’ve never tried a tasting event before, this one might have been a fun.
I love Solvang and I love wine. It is such a beautiful time of the year to visit the central coast!
