Last night I was invited to an awesome party to celebrate 40 years of the restaurant Avila’s El Ranchito, at the Newport Beach location (2800 Newport Blvd., Newport Beach) with the Avila family & it was a great time! The Avila family is so lovely and gracious and has worked so very hard to build their empire of 11 separate Avila’s El Ranchito locations! The mayor of Newport Beach was there to present Sergio Avila and his daughter, Maribel Avila (manager of the Newport Beach location) with an award.

Avila’s El Ranchito was always my favorite Taco Tuesday and when I used to live in Newport Beach, I never missed a week of the fun! The taco Tuesday party at El Ranchito is only $5 and it is all you can eat quesadilla, tacos, chips, and they have great drink specials! I need to start going there more frequently again even though I have moved to South Orange County. It is truly a fun Taco Tuesday!

In honor of the 40 year celebration in Newport Beach, Avila’s El Ranchito will be having some amazing specials throughout the month of April that I would like to share with you! I know you will love these deals, because while the food is tasty, the prices will also roll back to their original prices that were available when Avila’s El Ranchito opened in 1975! Salvador Avila came to the US with his wife, Margarita, and children from Guanajuato, Mexico. Margarita Avila, also known as Mama Avila, created all of the items on El Ranchito’s menu from scratch with her own recipes. The Avilas opened their first El Ranchito restaurant in Huntington Park in 1966. After four decades of hard work, Avila and their children (and grandchildren) now own and operate a total of 11 EL Ranchito restaurants in Southern California! In addition, nearly all of the members of the three generations of Avilas in the region – a total of 40 – are involved in the family business!

“At El Ranchito, our employees are like family,” says Maribel Avila, daughter and business partner of owner Sergio Avila. “We invite them to our dinners where Mama Avila still consults on what the menu will be, and now we are donating to various charities they support. We are trying to give them everything the Avila family provided for our generation.”
