Every year I look forward to my day of shopping at the after Christmas sales at the Ontario Mills Mall and this year shortly before I was planning to make the one hour trek from South Orange County, I was contacted by a cupcakery in Ontario called My Delight Cupcakery inviting me to pay a visit. Honestly, I only make it out to that area once a year, but they happened to reach out at the perfect moment because My Delight Cupcakery happened to be only an 8-mile drive from my favorite shopping journey of the year. 🙂 I kindly obliged to select the cupcakes that tickled my fancy and they were waiting for me when I arrived to pick them up. 🙂

Although I was unfamiliar with the area, I quickly found My Delight Cupcakery nestled in between a Juice Bar and a Starbucks drive through and so the magic began! Outside of the cupcake store was the awesome food truck for the cupcakery as they also love to travel with their goodies to make people smile, in addition to their Brick and Mortar establishment located on Mountain Avenue in Ontario.

When I entered the store, there was a line of customers carefully making their selections for their orders. My six cupcakes were ready for me at the counter and the staff introduced each flavor to me as my eyes lit up and my mouth began to water. Entering my car to begin the journey home, I struggled with not being able to tackle the cakes as I wanted to make sure they arrived home safely where I could properly photograph them and take notes for the purpose of this article.

When I got home, I once again peaked at the cakes before eating dinner to make sure they were not damaged after the one hour commute back to Mission Viejo. 🙂 Each cake was in place just as it had been when I picked them up & I looked forward to cutting them open and devouring them after dinner! 🙂 See the journey of my six stories of pleasure below. These cupcakes were each loaded with a gooey inside, along with some decadent chocolate toppers & other sorts of treats on top of several of the cakes.

The first cupcake was Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip – This cake was full of rich, moist goodness. It was a perfect blend of flavor. Eating this cupcake was like eating a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in a cake. It was full of peanut butter chips, chocolate, sprinkles, peanut butter cake, and chocolate frosting.

Cupcake number two that I selected was Coconut Lemon. This one was made with coconut cake, a delectable lemon gooey center, toasted coconut, and white frosting that was similar to a meringue consistency.

The third cupcake was Key Lime, which is always a classic favorite flavor of mine. This one had vanilla cake, delicious key lime filling, a marshmallow meringue frosting, and a key lime jelly candy for décor on top that added a nice tangy flavor.

The fourth cupcake I selected was the Cherry Filled Red Velvet. This cake comes either with or without cherry filling, but the chocolate and fruit combination is a favorite of mine, so the cherry filling was a must! This cupcake was like biting into a cherry cordial cake with moist red velvet cake, luxurious cream cheese frosting, cherry cordial gel inside, and a white chocolate heart that was festooned on top for your guilty pleasure.

The fifth cupcake I enjoyed was another classic favorite of mine…the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. This amazing cake tasted like there was Chambord in the filling. The rich flavor of the raspberry filling in the chocolate cake would have went perfectly with a glass of champagne topped off with Chambord. This cake was certainly grand and full of flavor down the perfectly shaved slices of chocolate carefully placed in the whipped frosting on top!

Lastly, the sixth cupcake I selected was a seasonal option and it was the Pumpkin Maple Cheesecake. This one had the flavor of a blend of all spice, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, and pumpkin cheesecake filling with a touch of maple, and fluffy whipped cream. There were walnuts on top with maple flavor intertwined, moist goodness with a decadent chocolate heart on top for décor and flavor!

If there is one word I can give to share about my experience with My Delight Cupcakery, it would be deliciousness! I can honestly say I have had many cupcakes in my lifetime and the ones I had at this store were some of the best! These were not just ordinary cupcakes, I could tell people took their time and made them with love. Even though I live an hour away from this establishment, this is a place I would drive to get a great cake and I would definitely recommend it to others. When I picked up my cakes I asked the staff what the most popular item was one the menu and they told me their breakfast items were the most popular…. It sounds like I will have to make another stop there again in the near future to try out the breakfast!

The Mother-daughter team, Melinda and Naomi Moreno founded My Delight Cupcakery in 2009 and I was so very impressed with their creations! I cannot wait to go back to try more of the different flavors! My Delight Cupcakery is located at 1520 North Mountain Avenue, Ontario, CA, USA 91762 and they are open Monday thru Saturday from 10-8 & closed on Sundays.
