Corner Bakery Café recently invited me in to their Irvine location to check out their new spot they moved to in the Irvine Spectrum and they wanted me to try their newest “Choose Any Two” combo! I always love the Corner Bakery and was happy to see the new location and check out the new combos. I asked my mom to join me on this mission and we found the new location that is next to the carousel and the store, Forever 21, closest o the underground lot by Del Frisco Grille.
As we cruised up to the new location, I really liked where it was situated as there is ample parking nearby and a really nice patio area. The location is much larger than their previous spot over by Pieology and the Ferris Wheel on the opposite side of the Irvine Spectrum.
The “Choose any Two” combo gave us a choice of selecting any hot or cold sandwiches, salads, soups, or pastas! The combo also comes with a bag of chips. This was a great deal as we soon found out the sizes of the items were very decent and I even had lunch for the next day as well!
For my combo, I got the Chicken Pesto Sandwich, as it has always been my favorite and I also decided to try the Steak and Cheese.
The Chicken Pesto Sandwich formula has changed a bit in the last few years and it seems like more tomato flavor than pesto now. I noticed this the last time I had the sandwich as well. Next time I will ask for some extra pesto. This half was great as a lunch item for me at work the next day, as I saved it as leftovers. 🙂 This sandwich is prepared with chicken, arugula and tomatoes, sweet and spicy house vinaigrette and pesto mayo on a baguette.
My other item I selected was the Steak and Cheese sandwich and it was so amazing! I actually will go as far as to say that this sandwich is now my new favorite at the Corner Bakery! The fresh baguette and melted cheese with lots of meat loaded up brought great pleasure to my lunch date! The Steak and Cheese sandwich is prepared with 1/3 pound roast beef, provolone, cheddar cheese sauce and grilled mushrooms, peppers and onions on a baguette. This was so delicious and I did not save any leftovers of this one!
For my mom’s selection of choose any two, she got the Asian Wonton salad and the Southwest Chicken Grilled flat sandwich.
The Asian Wonton salad was made with chicken, edamame, cucumbers, red bell peppers, carrots, green onions, cilantro and crispy wontons with ginger soy dressing on mixed greens and cabbage. She seemed quite happy with her selection!
Her other item, the Southwest Chicken Grilled Flat was a sandwich I had never seen. We were joking about how she was quite ethnic going with Asian food and Mexican food in the same lunch. She seemed thoroughly satisfied with her selections.
After enjoying a nice afternoon with my mom on the patio at Corner Bakery, we proceeded to walk around a bit in the Irvine Spectrum to digest our lunch. This Corner Bakery “Choose Two Combo” going on right now at your local Corner Bakery is a great deal that you must take advantage of! For under $10 this is pretty awesome and like I said it lasted for me as a lunch for two separate days! If you like Steak and Cheese, you MUST try the Steak and Cheese Sandwich. It truly was amazing!
