My husband and I recently went to enjoy a lovely lunch at Stonefire Grill in Irvine. This restaurant is a quick service restaurant where you walk in and can order at the register immediately. After ordering the food is served to you at your table and there is an area where you can grab utensils and soda self-serve style.
Upon entering Stonefire, I noticed a board of specials and there was one on there that stood out to me that I just had to have. It was the Ahi Arugula Salad. In addition to the special salad of the day, we made a few more tasty selections recommended to us by the manager and made our way to our table starving and ready to devour the barbecue specialties.
Stonefire Grill in Irvine has a nice size dining room and since we happened to be there on a Sunday, it was jam packed with families, military, groups of friends and couples. It seemed to be a really popular place for everyone!
Our salad was brought out to us first and it was loaded with ahi. I was happy to see the plentiful amount of seafood atop the bed of greens because a lot of restaurants tend to skimp on the amount they serve, but Stonefire certainly gave us a nice serving of ahi. If you love seared ahi and arugula, you cannot go wrong with this salad and I appreciated how the dressing was really light and not overpowering.
Next we were served our side of mashed potatoes and our side of macaroni and cheese. Our main course meal also came out which was the grilled garlic lemon half chicken and tri-tip. Each meal comes with one side, so that was the mashed potatoes. The macaroni and cheese was just an obsessive add-on I had to have because I am obsessed with macaroni and cheese everywhere I go! The amount of food we ordered was perfect for two!
My hubby and I bit into the moist chicken and we were both pretty impressed. There are several different flavorings that you can get for the chicken, but we are both big garlic fans, so we opted for the garlic lemon seasoning. You cannot go wrong with the chicken! The spotlight of our meat plate had to be the tri-tip. I have enjoyed tri-tip at many different restaurants, but the seasoning and the texture of the meat is spot on at Stonefire Grill! So many restaurants are afraid to cook medium rare and this place made our mouths happy because it was a perfect medium rare and we enjoyed every last bite of meat!
The mashed potatoes were like a meal of their own and they were some of my most favorite mashed potatoes I have ever had. There was a lovely crusting around the potatoes from heating them nicely in the pan. The crispy texture around the edges truly added to the mashed potatoes experience!
The macaroni and cheese caught my eye even though it was under the kids menu and they ended up serving us a lovely large side of macaroni and cheese, which made my mouth happy for 2 days! I was excited to have leftovers! As I pulled my fork away from the macaroni there were long strings of cheese as you can see in my photos below! It tasted like this macaroni n’ cheese had three or four cheeses in it and I do plan to order it again…Do not hesitate if you are debating on ordering this item!
To finish off our meal, we decided to get one of their sweet treats from the dessert section of the menu. I selected a brownie and the size of this brownie was huge. We both agreed it can be easily split after a meal at Stonefire between a few people because it was quite fudgy, moist and delicious. It was rich and full of flavor and we ended up taking ¾ of it home!
We loved Stonefire Grill and will definitely go back to dine there again one of these days! Have you ever been in Stonefire Grill? What are your favorite selections on the menu? Please leave your thoughts in the comments section below. 🙂
