I regularly drive by Oggi’s Pizza and Brewing in Garden Grove on my way home from work and always think I want to go check it out. I was happy to finally pay them a visit when they reached out asking me if I would like to dine and check out their new Pizzapalooza pizza specials! Of course, I kindly accepted and headed in to Oggi’s with one of my old students from years ago! 🙂 Check out the items that we enjoyed below! 🙂

Our waitress, Doris came over to pleasantly greet us. She was friendly and welcoming and she even let me get a photo of her to share with all of you in my article. Make sure to ask for Doris when you visit Oggi’s. She was friendly and very helpful when it came to navigating the huge menu.:)

We started our meal with a few sodas as I did have a long trek home to South Orange County, so beers were out of the question. However, I must say I had a sample of the stout and I hope to visit Oggi’s again soon to enjoy it with my pizza. The stout beer was delicious and full of flavor!

We started off our meal with the Loaded Fries as an appetizer. Shantelle selected these because she is a big French Fries person and all of the toppings sounded delicious. The Loaded Fries are seasoned fries that are doused in melted Mozzarella and Cheddar, crispy bacon and fresh green onions. They were served with ketchup and Oggi’s special ranch made in house. These fries were awesome and I could not stop eating them, but we had to try because there was more food to come and we wanted to have the appetite to devour more! 🙂

Next out of the oven was our pizza. We selected two different pizzas from the special Pizzapalooza menu that is available for a limited time. There are four different flavors of Pizzapalooza pizzas and the two that stood out to me that I just had to try were the Fully Loaded Baked Potato Pizza and the Short Rib Pizza. It is awesome because at Oggi’s they will do half and half pizzas for any flavor or style, so we got a small 10-inch pie that was half short rib and half potato.

The Fully Loaded Baked Potato Pizza consisted of baked potato on homemade pizza dough, topped with Mozzarella and Cheddar cheeses, crispy crumbled bacon and thinly sliced green onions with a sour cream drizzle. This pizza was quite unique from any other pizza I had ever tried and it reminded me of eating a baked potato that was splattered on a pizza. It may sound strange, but the flavor was pretty intense and flavorful. This pizza was very good, but it was definitely heavy. I probably should have not had the Loaded Fries as an app…maybe something lighter like a salad next time. 🙂

The Short Rib Pizza was prepared with shredded beef short ribs, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and Feta and Mozzarella cheeses atop Oggi’s homemade pizza dough. The short rib pizza was also lovely and the flavor combination was perfect. Before trying this pizza, I was a little bit skeptical about the combination of the short rib and the feta cheese, but the flavors complemented one another quite nicely. I was also happy to see that Shantelle liked it although she does not like feta cheese and does not normally eat short rib.

The other menu item we selected was the fish tacos. There was a choice of either grilled or fried beer-battered cod fillets for the three tacos, so we opted to get one grilled to share and two fried so there would be one for each of us. We enjoyed both styles of the the grilled and fried fish tacos! I quite honestly cannot say I liked one better than the other. The fresh cod fillets are prepared in corn tortillas with Oggi’s homemade cole slaw and served with a side of Pico de Gallo. You can also substitute blackened shrimp or add a side of black beans and chips for an additional cost. There was a chipotle aioli on the tacos that at first I was fearful of because I do not do spice, but it actually added the perfect blend of flavor and it was not spicy to me at all. It just helped to make all of the ingredients well balanced.

As we completed our meal, we had to ask Doris for boxes to take part of our meal home because our tummies were full, but we definitely wanted to enjoy our leftovers the next day! I hope to eat at Oggi’s again soon and I plan to go in and enjoy their happy hour sometime as well.
