I love JFAT aka Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern. I have been to this restaurant several times in the past and they never disappoint. Recently I went to visit the Brea location to check out their Sunday Brunch!  This was a meal I had never tried before at JFAT and I was excited to check it out!

When Sunday Funday arrived and we head out to Brea for brunch, we had a special surprise upon arrival!  Our friend, Stephanie (awesome bartender at JFAT Brea – see her photo in my article) was working! We were pretty excited to see her as it had been quite awhile. Seriously if you need any type of cocktail, I do recommend her and tell her Dani sent you. 🙂

To start our meal, we each got a Mimosa. I selected the Blood Orange and my hubby got the pineapple. We chose to share the juices to blend the flavors.  There are also classic orange and pomegranate flavors available! A classic mimosa is $9, while the other flavors are $10 and you can have bottomless champagne for $15 when ordering any entrée & pay $2.95 for a carafe of juice. Great Sunday Funday deal in my book!

The manager brought us the lovely summer salad on the special menu of the day.  The Wine Country Grilled Chicken Salad was full of flavor and came decked out with grilled chicken breast, greens, red onions, nectarines, sun-dried cranberries, Applewood smoked bacon, California blue cheese, cornbread croutons and vinaigrette.  I was actually quite thankful we had this salad because it was very light and refreshing!  This is a perfect summer choice!

Prior to our main course our friend at the bar, Stephanie wanted us to try some of the new summer cocktails and she surprised us with the Pear Fectionist and the Summer Sunrise!  The Summer Sunrise was prepared with Ketel One, Blood Orange Juice, Thatcher’s Blood Orange Liqueur, and a Sparkling Float of champagne.  The Pear Fectionist (my personal favorite) was created with Tito’s Vodka, Absolut Pear, Pear Nectar, and Agave!  Yummm!  I sipped this one down pretty quick because it tasted so good! It reminded me of a pear martini and it was lovely and refreshing for a summer day!

Our waiter, Graham later brought to our table our two entrée choices. We selected two different dishes and shared both!

One of the dishes we selected was the Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Malted Ale Waffles with Thyme Gravy, Applewood Smoked Bacon, and maple syrup.  This dish totally hit the spot and had us craving more!  Gotta love the chicken and waffles!

We also ordered my personal favorite, The Classic Eggs Benedict.  The Eggs Benedict was prepared with English Muffins, smoked ham, and classic hollandaise and with it we got the Parmesan & White Truffle Oil tots.  I always have to order this dish when I go to brunch and this one was exceptional. You cannot go wrong with a classic eggs benedict, especially when the ingredient proportions are perfect😊

We were so happy and full after this deliciousness and started to digest while sipping our mimosas.  When the topic of dessert came up, we were just too full, but I am sure they have many amazing selections of desserts as well!

We hope to visit Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern again in the future.  For this dining experience, we visited the Brea location, but there are also locations in Dana Point, Santa Monica, San Diego and Woodland Hills. Have you been in to Jimmy’s?  What is your favorite dish?
