Prego restaurant has returned and it now has a new home at The District at Tustin Legacy.  While Prego may have disappeared for a bit they are back in a new location with classic favorites and new Mediterranean delicacies as well!  They are now Prego Mediterranean and have a variety of delicious options to choose from. For those of you that are old Prego restaurant fans, please don’t fret that your classics are gone…While there are many old items missing from the menu, you do also have the option to ask your server what is on the hidden menu because there are many classics that they will still prepare! 😊

When we arrived at Prego Mediterranean, we were impressed with the set up of the restaurant that used to be the location of the Bluewater Grill.  Prego truly got a prime spot across from J.T. Schmidt’s near the entrance to the parking lot. When we dined at Prego it was decorated for Christmas with twinkling lights and a lovely tree at the front entrance. This restaurant has ample space not only for standard dining, but for large groups and dinner parties. The kitchen is wide open and the bar space is great!

To start off our meal, we ordered the Shrimp Cocktail as we were both craving something light and fresh. Chilled Tiger Shrimp with a house made cocktail sauce was exactly what we needed to wet our palates!  With fresh endives and lemon this app was on par!

Next, we moved on to the Maria Elena salad to get in our round of greens. I selected this salad out of the seven salad choices on the menu because I had a hankering for gorgonzola cheese. In addition to the cheesy goodness, this salad is also prepared with pears, walnuts and a lemon vinaigrette. One of these salads to share prior to our main courses was perfect for the two of us!  With all salads on the Prego menu, there is an option to add shrimp, chicken, steak or salmon to your salad for an additional fee.

For drinks I selected a glass of the Federalist Cabernet Sauvignon and my hubby got the English Brown Ale from Dude’s Brewing Company.  The Federalist is one of my go to favorites that I was introduced to at the Disney resort and I regularly have it in my wine closet! I give it my highest recommendation! Tom really enjoyed his beer as well.

For my main entrée, I chose the lobster ravioli.  This fresh and creamy half moon pasta was filled with lobster and ricotta cheese in a lemon and lobster sauce. At $24 for the serving, I would say this meal was a delicious deal. 🙂 I thought the combination of ingredients was perfect, as well as the size. I even had 1.5 ravioli left to take home with me for the next day.  There was quite a bit of lobster in the pasta!

My hubby got the Australian Lamb Chops per our server’s recommendation and they were cooked exactly as we love them, medium rare.  The dish came with 4 nice size lamb chops that were topped with a mint red wine demi-glaze, a decent size serving of saffron risotto, and asparagus on the side.

For dessert, we had a lovely slice of homemade New York Cheesecake which was a perfect way to end our meal. I love cheesecake and this was an exceptional slice with a slight sprinkle of powdered sugar on top along with a slice of a strawberry.

I definitely recommend checking out the new Prego Mediterranean restaurant at The District. I think anyone that dines there will be impressed with the food and the ambiance.  If you would like to read about my past experience and see photos at the old location that no longer exists, see my article here –> Original Prego in Irvine.
