This past April, I attended a dinner with a group of my friends that are also fabulous women that like to blog. We had an opportunity to check out the Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar at Antonello’s restaurant in Santa Ana. On January 18 Antonello’s Restaurant opened the new addition to the restaurant which is a private room with a wine bar/lounge. Antonello’s Restaurant opened in 1979 and has been serving amazing Italian food for the past 34 years. Antonello’s owners Antonio and his wife Fiorella Cagnola were inspired to convert a portion of their dining room into a wine bar four years ago when owner, Antonio Cagnola began to develop a business and friendship relationship with Piergiorgio Castellani, one of the top winemakers in Italy.

We were all pleasantly impressed by the décor in Antonello’s, Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar. The setup was gorgeous and very warm and comfy like we were hanging out in one of our own homes. 🙂 The room had warm brown tones, tables, and even comfy sofas and individual chairs. Covering the walls were wine bottles in decorative wine racks with candles, fruits and wine boxes as décor.

Castellani Enoteca Wine bar has an extensive variety of wine options, as well as their own menu separate from the restaurant. Their menu includes small plate appetizers and specialty drinks as well. In my article here, you can see several of the small dish items and go HERE for entire Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar Menu! There is a fabulous variety of several delicious savory plates as well as yummy deserts! Small Plates, appetizers and desserts range in price from $5-$15 in the Wine Bar, which are very reasonably priced.

Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar is located at 3800 South Plaza Drive in the city of Santa Ana, CA across the street from South Coast Plaza mall. It is a very convenient location for a drink and appetizers after a long day of shopping at the mall or prior to a theater show across the street The Performing Arts Center. Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar is open from 4:30 to closing Mondays through Saturdays and they feature live music from 6:30 – 8:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. Thursdays are certainly a special night to go as well because Cagnolo hosts wine Thursdays from 4:30 to 9pm that he calls, “Wine Flight Night” in which you get to sample a flight of four different Italian wines for $16. Light snacks are also served during this event and there is great music from an Italian musician!

If you have not yet been to Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar & Antonello’s Restaurant, this place is a must. I only had the opportunity to sample the menu in Castellani Wine Bar, but I also look forward to going back to visit Antonello’s for dinner. Anotnello’s offers home cooked Italian meals made with fresh ingredients by executive chefs. There is also a strong influence from owner, Cagnola’s mother & wife Fiorella that regularly pitch ideas to the chef that they used in their own Italian households. I hear the meals are amazing in the restaurant as well as the small plates I tried in the wine bar. There is an extensive wine list with a variety of menu items, as well as a bambini menu for kids. I hope to go to a wine Thursday soon at Castellani Enoteca Wine Bar and for a dinner in the main dining room at Antonello’s. Please let me know if you have visited this restaurant and any meal recommendations you may have!
