Del Taco Plato Entrees – Wet Burritos and Tacos

Just recently Del Taco Restaurants began serving new entrée meals called Platos, which is their new premium menu where they offer individually-plated meals complete with an entrée, two sides, and chips and salsa!  Normally when I visit Del Taco is is for my late night craving of my high school favorite, the chicken soft taco and to be honest the only other item I usually get is the bean burrito, but with this new entrée option at Del Taco I definitely had a reason to go and visit. When Del Taco invited me in to try their Platos, I kindly obliged! 🙂

When I visited the Del Taco by home in Mission Viejo, I opted for the Carne Asada wet style burrito Plato and my hubby opted for the fish tacos.  Platos provide a quick and affordable, but also deliciously filling meal available at any time of day.

I opted for the Carne Asada Wet Style Burrito because I wanted to try something different. It was a pretty thick burrito and while I would have liked a bit more meat than there was, it was seasoned quite nicely.  There was also a nice portion of fresco lime rice and slow-cooked pinto beans with freshly grated cheddar cheese sprinkled on top, along with chips and salsa which definitely filled me up for lunch for the long day ahead at Disneyland. 🙂

My husband got the Beer Battered Fish Tacos Plato and I think that both my hubby and I agreed this plate was our favorite. I had never tried the fish tacos at Del Taco before, but I totally fell in love with them. I will definitely get the fish tacos again! 🙂 

There are four Platos entrée options currently available, including the two new Wet Burritos and taco options:

• Chicken Verde Wet Burrito – packed with slow-cooked pinto beans made from scratch, marinated and grilled chicken, tangy green sauce and spicy jack cheese wrapped in a warm flour tortilla then topped with tangy green sauce, spicy jack cheese and hand-sliced fresh avocado ($6.49)
• Carne Asada Wet Burrito – stuffed with slow-cooked pinto beans made from scratch, marinated and grilled carne asada steak, zesty red sauce and freshly grated cheddar cheese wrapped in a warm flour tortilla then topped with zesty red sauce, freshly grated cheddar cheese and hand-sliced fresh avocado ($7.49)
• 2 Beer Battered Fish Tacos – wild-caught Alaska Pollock fillet in a crispy beer batter topped with crunchy cabbage, savory secret sauce and handmade pico de gallo wrapped in two warm corn tortillas and served with a fresh-cut lime wedge ($6.49)
• 2 Street Tacos – choice of freshly grilled marinated chicken ($6.49) or freshly grilled carne asada steak topped with roasted chile salsa, diced onions, fresh cilantro and hand-sliced avocado wrapped in two warm corn tortillas ($7.49)

All entrees are also available à la carte. Guests can add a small drink to any Plato for only $1 and substitute black beans for pinto beans at no additional charge.
