I went to visit Bayside Restaurant located in Newport Beach a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly impressed. I had wanted to visit Bayside for awhile and was happy to go with my husband on a date night. Upon arrival at Bayside, it was located in a perfect spot in the Pavilions shopping center with a welcoming walkway and the interior and exterior were decked out with twinkling lights for the holiday season.

We had to wait about 15 minutes for our reservation, which was understandable since there were so many Christmas parties taking place on the particular Friday evening that we went in to dine. Upon entering the restaurant there was a gorgeous Christmas tree and one of the coolest wine displays I have ever seen. See it in my picture below. I am a huge fan of wine and I instantly felt like a kid in a candy store as I walked around the display to check out the offerings of the wines served at Bayside.

We were seated in a corner table toward the back of the restaurant and were excited to see there was a three-course meal option on the menu! We always love these because we get a chance to try out the different features from the menu.

We chatted with our waiter a bit and he was very knowledgeable about the menu as he had been working there for almost the entire 17 years that the restaurant has been open! He insisted that we must start our meal with the Tartare of Sashimi Grade Yellowfin Tuna as it was one of his most favorite dishes on the menu. We opted to go for the prix fixe meal that goes for $66 and to add on an extra entrée and this ended up being the perfect amount of food and I always love a meal deal! 🙂

The three course menu included a choice of two different appetizers and two different entrees to choose from, along with a dessert. We happily selected our three choices.

For our appetizer, as mentioned above, we selected the Tartare of Sashimi Grade Yellowfin Tuna. This dish was prepared with lightly spiced soy, chili, ginger and crushed avocado with wonton crisps, but I asked to have the spicier chili sauce on the side because my husband loves spicy and I am not much of a fan. Truth be told, we both ended up loving the sauce, so I would definitely order it as it comes next time, but I must say it was also quite delicious with the soy sauce for all of you non-spicy people like myself.:)

Next we selected the Center Cut Filet Mignon, which is always one of my personal favorites! I love this steak is it is the least fatty of all cuts. This steak was prepared with Madagascan green pepper sauce, a potato trio, and seasonal vegetables! The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare as I love it and it was melt in your mouth delicious!

We selected another entrée off of the main menu and decided to share both the steak and our waiter’s second favorite, The Seared Wild Diver Scallops and Tiger Prawns that was prepared with lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus, & roasted marcona almond romesco. This dish was delicious and I was so thankful that my hubby and I split both dishes because I loved them both equally. Those lobster mashed potatoes…omg…seriously to die for!!! This dish was a lot lighter than the steak and they paired nicely to have half and half to get the best of both worlds from the sea and the land! 🙂

Lastly, we finished off our meal with a classic dessert. We chose the New Orleans Bread Pudding, which was jam- packed with caramel, banana, and Tahitian vanilla bean gelato. The nice thing about ordering from the three-course menu is that you have the option to pick any dessert that your heart desires off of the menu and on this particular evening I was craving banana and caramel! We finished this dessert so well that it looked like we licked the plate! I would definitely finish off my meal with the lovely dish and a cup of coffee again in the future!
