The Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm is back once again & there is a new Food Lineup of Boysenberry Inspired Dishes and Entertainment For all Ages! This amazing festival has expanded to three weeks, from April 1–April 23! This is my most favorite time of the year to come to Knott’s! The 23-day food festival features over 70 one-of-a-kind boysenberry inspired dishes, drinks and more, in addition to live entertainment & the Wine and Craft Brew Tasting Garden, which even offers a boysenberry wine, boysenberry beer, and boysenberry cider! In terms of live entertainment, the options are endless with live music throughout the park, a nighttime dance party, and brand new shows like, Snoopy’s Boysenberry Jamboree at the Calico Mine Stage. The limited-time festival is included with admission to Knott’s Berry Farm!
Knott’s Berry Farm invited me to the first day of boysenberry festival, as well as to a food tasting event and I had an opportunity to try quite a few of the new boysenberry food items, wine, and beers offered at the event that I would love to share with you!
We received the awesome tasting card which allows you to get 6 tastes for $25! We also had a wine tasting card that is $25 that included 6 wine tastes and a plate with cheese, crackers and fruit. 😊
The first of the 6 items we had from our food card was the Boysenberry BBQ Meatballs. These meatballs were tender and juicy and dripping with bbq sauce and I savored each bite.:)
Next, we had the Fry Bread. I was unsure of what to expect with this one, but I would say it was similar to a donut with sprinkled sugar and filled with succulent boysenberry filling. My hubby had this one all over his face when he was done! 😊
The Boysenberry Buffalo Wings were a nice treat to devour after watching the stunt show which was pretty close to the wings booth. These wings were my favorite boysenberry item of the day. They were cooked perfectly and tasted great! The boysenberry sauce on these wings was perfect. It was slightly tangy, but it was also sweet.
We ran into some of our friends on our way over to the Boysenberry Ravioli area at the Steakhouse. I was really excited to try this dish and we were all quite pleased with it. The pasta was made with boysenberry inside and out literally. The pasta was purple and it was filled with cheese and boysenberry and was in a cream sauce with tomatoes atop. I really loved this dish!
Next, we tried the Boysenberry Panna Cotta that had a lovely almond crumble on top. This was very refreshing and had the consistency of somewhat between a yogurt and an ice cream, but slightly thicker. This dessert was light and tasty and I finished each and every last bit of it.
Last, but not least we made our way over to the Wagon Wheel Pizza booth to get our slice of Boysenberry Pizza. The pizza was delicious and had both a sweet and savory flare to it. The sauce was a cream base and seemed to strike me as a boysenberry ricotta and there was arugula, goat cheese, and boysenberry sauce on top. I could have easily eaten a second slice! This dish was pretty awesome.
Happy and full, we also still had a lovely cheese plate to enjoy with our wine tasting. As we made our way over to the wine and beer tasting area we made a few stops in ghost town and went to visit Sad Eye Joe with our friends. 🙂
The wine tasting area had a boysenberry wine from Honeywood Winery in Oregon as well as a boysenberry beer and a boysenberry cider! I am not a huge sweet wine person and so while the wine was flavorful, it was a bit too sweet for me, but the beer & cider were amazing. I loved the boysenberry beer by itself as well as when it was mixed with the cider.
In addition to boysenberry beer and wine, there were also several different beers and wines available to taste with a variety of cheeses that included pepper jack and cheddar, grapes, and crackers. Yum! We lingered in this area for quite awhile and proceeded to make new friends & I hung out with one of my favorite wineries that happened to be in attendance from Napa Valley, good old Flora Springs!
Towards the end of our day at the Boysenberry Festival I was insistent on purchasing a slice of the Boysenberry Cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a stick! I seriously just had to have it! I had a lovely experience purchasing this deliciousness because there was a gorgeous chocolate fondue fountain and a super stoked employee that had fun dipping my cheesecake and he even grabbed a box for me from the steakhouse to take my delicacy home to devour. I thoroughly enjoyed this baby on the couch while watching Netflix later in the evening.
We attended the Boysenberry festival in 2015 and we enjoyed a few other items than the ones mentioned above and I just thought I would share them below, so you can see them as well! My hubby enjoyed the alligator bites prepared with boysenberry aioli and I had an instant love affair with the boysenberry ice cream cookie sandwich. We also enjoyed the bbq ribs with boysenberry bbq sauce. 🙂
At the Boysenberry Festival guests also have the opportunity to purchase boysenberry inspired products throughout the winding streets of the Old West at the Crafts Fair. I had no problem doing this on my way out of the park! As can be seen below, I picked up a quite a few items at the park. I have below the boysenberry popcorn. boysenberry beef jerky, boysenberry syrup, boysenberry jam and even a boysenberry chocolate bar!
This year, in honor of the famous berry, Ghost Town’s Town Hall featured a fascinating film which shares the story of how Walter and Cordelia Knott settled here in Buena Park and helped the world discover the amazing boysenberry. Guests can pull up a seat and catch a 10-minute showing of the historic film offered exclusively during the festival.
There were so many awesome things to see and do at the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival and I highly recommend attending this awesome event! Along with new shows, such as Snoopy’s Boysenberry Jamboree at the Calico Mine Stage and of course the old shows like the Old Time Melodrama & the stunt show, there is so much to see! I have been coming to Knott’s Berry Farm since I was a small child and I love to see how innovative they are and how they continue to change things up to keep the park fresh with new fun!
The Boysenberry Festival is included with admission to Knott’s Berry Farm, additional cost for food tasting experiences within the event, which also offers a full day of thrilling coasters and family fun rides. Knott’s will have extended hours, 10am to 10pm, from April 1 – April 23, allowing guests extra time to take advantage of all of the limited-time offerings.
