I have wanted to check out the restaurant, Lark Creek Farm Fresh Dining in Fashion Island in the city of Newport Beach since they first opened this past summer 2013, but with all of the events I have had in my schedule I had not been fortunate enough to do so until this past weekend! I was very excited to visit Lark Creek during their Dungeness Crab Season! For a limited time only (through the end of February) there are some fresh items on the menu prepared with Dungeness crab! This was quite exciting to me…crab is in season and

Dungeness is my favorite. Along with some special Dungeness crab specialties, I had the opportunity to try a variety of other menu items as well!

First we started with 2 delectable cocktails. My husband had the Unfashionable which was designed with Russels Reserve 10 year Bourbon, Leopold Tart Cherry Liqueur, Lemon, & Orange. My cocktail was the Empress 1908,

which happens to be a very popular cocktail on the menu and it is a gorgeous looking drink as well.:) Served in a martini glass, this cocktail boasts in flavor and includes Chamomile-Lavender infused Grey Goose Vodka,

lemon, simple sugar, and egg white as the ingredients. I loved this cocktail down to the lovely placement of lavender and chamomile décor on the surface of the foam from the egg white! This was very well done.

We ordered three appetizers on this lovely winter evening and they included a surprise from the chef which was a Rockfish Ceviche decked out with Aji Amarillo and plantain chips. This dish was delicious. While the ceviche was a tad spicy for my taste, the blend of the rockfish and spices with the plantain chips mellowed out the flavor and made it taste perfectly. It was amazing how the plantain chips were able to change the profile of the spices in the fish. Our other two appetizers were the Deviled eggs and

the Dungeness Crab Cocktail. These were both phenomenal in flavor. The crab was fresh and delicious and I will be back for those deviled eggs! They were pure perfection as the flavor absorbed in my mouth and I desired more with each delectable bite.

Prior to our main course, my husband and I selected a glass of the Cryptic Red Blend wine from California, which not only had a nice price point at under $10 a glass, the flavor was velvety and smooth. We very much enjoyed this wine and it paired quite nicely with my next course that was to come…
For our main entrees, my husband had the Cider-Brined Pork Chop per recommendation by our fabulous waitress! She definitely picked a great option and he was instantly in heaven. The pork chop was decorated with roasted squash, braised red cabbage, and a bourbon sherry glaze. I am not a big pork person, but let me tell you…

this one was amazing…rich in flavor and juiciness…this pork chop stole the show! For my entrée I ordered the 8 ounce Filet Mignon which was plated with a Dungeness crab salad, potato gratin, and parsley persillade. I loved my plate and I said earlier, it paired perfectly with my vino mentioned above! My steak was cooked to perfection. I ordered medium rare and it was done just right. A lot of times I have to send a steak back because it is under cooked, but this was cooked

just as I love it! The Dungeness crab salad atop my steak was delicious in flavor and I had never tried parsley persillade before, but I was in heaven!
To finish off our dining experience, I had a delicious blend of Mr. Espresso, organic coffee with Frangelico. Mr. Espresso coffee is a fascinating blend in that their coffee is the only roaster in the US to roast their coffee beans over a fire fueled exclusively by wood. The blend of the Mr. Espresso and the Frangelico hit the spot and went nicely

with my delicious dessert I selected, which was the Croissant Bread Pudding!! I am not a big bread pudding gal, but this was decadent…fresh croissants with melted chocolate and chocolate gelato amazement! I will definitely be heading back for this dessert! It was one of a kind and definitely one of the best desserts I have had in awhile!

The service at Lark Creek was prompt and friendly. We felt very welcome upon entering the restaurant and throughout our evening dinner service. I hope to visit Lark Creek again in the near future and maybe even get the opportunity to get in once more before the Dungeness crab season ends this year! Please let me know your thoughts below about Lark Creek Farm Fresh Dining! I definitely plan to visit again!
