This past December I shared about a new amazing restaurant that opened in Surf City, Huntington Beach called Solita tacos and margaritas. You can read about it here –> SOLITA. Solita is the sister restaurant of Sol Cocina in Newport Beach and they both have some pretty amazing Mexican Food. I am excited to share that a month ago; Solita started a take out service program for people to be able to enjoy their food in the comfort of their own home, at the beach, the park, etc. This sounded like a great deal to me this past weekend because on July 4th I was heading to the beach in Huntington to see the fireworks and I did not want to deal with the mad rush of people occupying the restaurants of HB and how can you turn down Solita??

Solita is conveniently located close to the freeway exit of Beach Blvd. in Huntington Beach right off of Edinger Avenue in the Bella Terra shopping center at 7631 Edinger Avenue, Suite 1508. Guests may now place to-go orders from solita! Executive Chef Deborah Schneider’s has designed a great menu full of bold flavors, imaginative dishes and traditional favorites. The takeout menu had everything I could ask for when I checked it out online. Solita Takeout is available Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

There literally was a blend of everything including antojitos, such as Grilled Corn Elote and Yellowtail Ceviche Tropicale; popular taco plates and tasters; as well as solita specialties including Chef Deb’s Skirt Steak Asada with Toreados, Wood-grilled Fajitas, and the Perro Caliente “Changa.”

In addition to her regularly offered menu items, Chef Deb’s takeout menu also features a la carte and Party Pickup options. A la carte offerings include solita’s special Whole Oak-roasted Chipotle Chicken and “Build Your Own Taco” packages which feature meats roasted on solita’s Santa Maria-style grill and smoker including Carne Asada, Wood-grilled Ancho Chile Chicken, and Grilled Fish Mazatlan, as well as vegan and wheat-free options. The Party Pickup option features a taco buffet that presents three kinds of delicious wood-fired meats equipped with tortillas, solita taco fixings, solita’s famous chips & salsa, plus three sides. Add-ons to the Party Pickup option include cheese enchiladas, chicken taquitos, and solita’s margarita mix, all of which are available in specified quantities.

My favorite is the Queso al Forno which includes a blend of bubbling cheeses with Serrano chilies and corn and flour tortillas on the side, but I decided to try new menu items when I went to pick up my takeout.:)
When entering Solita this past Friday to pick up our order we had placed on the phone, we noticed a woman walk in to the restaurant ahead of us and inquire about take out service. Obviously this is a popular idea that people were hoping for and it is so awesome that takeout service has arrived to Solita! When I called on the phone, I told Solita the time I would arrive and they assured me that they would have my food ready at that time and it would be fresh and ready to go. They definitely delivered as promised because when I arrived, the takeout staff went back to the kitchen to compile my order and bring it out to me quite quickly. I was impressed!

Upon leaving Solita, we headed out to the beach area, but since it was July 4th we had to park quite far away and take a shuttle in to the beach…We were questioning if our food would still be warm and it was! 🙂 We spread out our blanket on the beach and were excited to devour our items. We ordered a variety of goodies including chicken quesadillas, Ensalada Ranchera (amazing salad I have had when dining with my friend at solita in the past), chicken tacos, corn elote, chips and salsa fresco. This respectable amount of food was well worth the $50. We had an awesome picnic at the beach and enjoyed our food and the atmosphere as well.
