Slater’s 50/50 Sexy Seductive Burger Mania – Burgers By Design!

Recently I had the opportunity to check out the new Slater’s 50/50 Burgers by Design in Lake Forest, California.  This past February, Slater’s 50/50 had their grand opening in Lake Forest which I was super excited about because I live within a 10 mile radius. In the past we have also been to the Huntington Beach Location.  There are also locations in Anaheim Hills, Pasadena, & San Diego that we have not yet ventured to. Soon, Slater’s 50/50 will also be opening a store in the Riverside area in California as well. I am thoroughly stoked for their expansion opportunities, as they have phenomenal food!!

The first time I ever tried Slater’s was at a food event called “Decadence by OC Weekly” that takes place in Orange County once every year and for a fee of about $30 you have the opportunity to sample different foods, cocktails, wines, and beers from all over Orange County. In my first experience with Slater’s I was a little apprehensive in that they were

offering their “Peanut Butter & Jellousy Burger.” This burger is made with Sterling Silver ground beef and layered with thick bacon, creamy peanut butter, and strawberry jelly on a honey whole wheat bun…After taking one bite of my sample…I was continually lingering around the Slater’s booth wanting more…I was pleasantly surprised.  This was love at first bite..I never would think that I would enjoy such a combination, but ever since that first bite, I must order that burger every time I frequent Slater’s

50/50! The combination of the warm creamy peanut butter and jelly with the bacon on the burger creates a multitude of fabulous favors and a pleasure in my mouth! I have yet to try it ala mode with the vanilla ice cream they also serve on the patty, but I am sure it is also awesome! I hear really good things about it…next time for sure 🙂

Slater’s 50/50 originally opened their first store in Anaheim Hills and was founded by Scott Slater in 2009. He teamed up with Executive Chef Brad Lyons to create the first ever 50/50 burger which contained 50% ground bacon & 50% ground beef!  Sounds crazy I know…but these burgers are bomb!!  For those of you that are not massive bacon lovers or even beef, there are many other options for your patties

that include; 50/50 patty (half bacon, half beef), chicken, veggie, beef, fried chicken, Portobello mushroom, fire beef, turkey, and the burger of the month!  In addition to selecting your patty you can also select the size as 1/3, 2/3 or a full pound!  There are 5 different bread types, 11 types of cheese, 40 different toppings, and 19 different sauces…YUM…making my mouth water just thinking about it! In addition to the fabulous burgers at Slater’s 50/50, they also have great appetizers, drinks, deserts, and specialty meals. I must say my favorite appetizer on their menu and a favorite of many others is the Vampire Dip. It is a rich and creamy cheesy dip prepared with roasted garlic, cheese, and artichokes & served in a bread bowl with fried pita chips. This

dish is bomb…I have to warn you it is very filling, but it is also quite addicting and it is hard to stop eating it once you start, even when you know you have yummy burgers coming out soon.

I must also mention Slater’s 50/50 has a gluten free menu!  I know this will make a lot of people I know happy. It is awesome that Slater’s has this menu to be able to aim to please people that are gluten intolerant and unable to eat items with wheat.

Slater’s 50/50 has quite an impressive beer selection!  The bar in their Lake Forest Store had over 50 different beer options that ranged in several different styles. This is definitely a place for a beer lover and on the drink menu they even had unique beer cocktails.  There were some very unique drinks that I had never seen before.

Since I am a deals fanatic, I must also mention that Slater’s 50/50 has an awesome Happy Hour that happens on Mondays through Fridays from 3:00-7:00pm & 7 days a week from 10pm to close.  The happy hour includes 50% off well drinks, house wine (bottle & glass) appetizers (the bottom six on the appetizer menu) & select craft & domestic beers on the happy hour beer list (varieties change daily).

Last, but definitely not least for desert we had the “Cococarma”which is a toasted caramel, coconut, and chocolate cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and served a la mode. Sadly, we were unable to finish the cococarma, but I plan to go back just for desert

so we can enjoy this desert and the 50/50’s famous Bacon Brownie..Yes folks you heard me right! The Bacon Brownie features 2 moist chocolate brownies sandwiching candied bacon and chocolate ganache and topped with more candied bacon, served a la mode.  Alright…now I am thoroughly hungry! This place is a must try if you have never been and a must go back if you have been. I look forward to heading back soon and now that I have a Slater 50/50’s so close to my house this could become dangerous to my waistline!
