Our Recent Trip to Alaska on Alaska Airlines

If you like to travel and you are looking for a credit card, there are so many different options out there today.  One credit card I would like to recommend for travel fanatics is the Alaska Airlines Credit Card.  I recently traveled to Alaska and only paid for one ticket, and got a FREE companion fare ticket for only taxes and fees! That is right, you heard me!! This is a BOGO travel credit card and you accrue miles!  Well, how does this work? Great question you ask, allow me to explain below!!  All pictures in this post are from my recent trip to Alaska! 🙂

Alaska Airlines Credit Card

I have always shied away from any credit card that had an annual fee, so I never would have ever given this card a chance since it does have a $75 annual fee, but since this credit card also gives you a FREE airline ticket each and every year with no blackout dates, no matter how much you purchase, it makes it sooo worth it!!

Upon signing up with the Alaska Airlines credit card, you get a perk of 25,000 bonus miles just for signing up and being approved.  There are always special promos going on when you sign up with this card.  When I signed up, my first year of the annual fee was waived and right now there is a current promotion through August 31, 2014 to also get an additional 2,500 miles!  Therefore if you sign up now, you get 27,500 airline miles to use toward any flights you choose in the future.

In addition to the free miles you receive to use towards any flight, you get a FREE Companion ticket yearly from this credit card.  What this means is that you pay full fare for one ticket when booking 2 seats and for the second ticket, you only pay taxes and fees which amounts to $118 and the awesome thing about this ticket is that it has absolutely no blackout dates!!  Believe me, it is awesome!  My husband and I just came home from Alaska at the best season to go (Summer Solstice – sun goes down and pops right back up again…24 hours of daylight) and tickets last minute were $980 a person and I paid $1098 for the both of us.  That was a pretty sweet deal!

Another perk with this card is that you receive 3 miles for each dollar spent on Alaska Airlines purchases which includes tickets, vacation packages, in flight purchases, and cargo.  You also receive one mile for each $1 spent on all other purchases with this card.  As you all probably know, the money you spend on your credit card throughout the year adds up quickly!  It is important to make sure that you pay all of the bills you possibly can on your credit card to accrue massive points. I am living proof that these points add up because I currently have 133,000 miles & I am purchasing a first class ticket to Rome, Italy for next summer with 120,000 of them to renew my 10 year vows with my hubby!

One last awesome factor about this credit card is that when using your miles that have accrued you can select from any one of the Alaska Airlines 14 different airline partners.  This is awesome in that you have more selection and variety available for flights!

I am currently trying out the Capital One card, so I am sure I will have more information to share about that one in the future as well. 🙂
